Breast Augmentation / Enlargement
Breast Augmentation / Breast Implants (typically silicone implants) is our most popular and common procedure performed today.Face Lift & Neck Lift
Dr. Bobby A. Kumar performs comprehensive face lift and neck lift surgery for those patients seeking longer term results.Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty)
Typically Tummy tucks are performed when liposuction, weight loss or exercise alone will not address the sagging (ptotic) abdominal skin and spreading abdominal muscles.Breast Reduction / Lift
Breast reduction (reduction mammaplasty) reduces the breast volume and shape to a natural & for some women a perky shape.Dr. Bobby A. Kumar, Cosmetic Surgeon, seeks to provide natural and aesthetic Cosmetic Surgical and non-surgical procedures in Sydney, Port Macquarie, the Gold Coast and Adelaide.
Cosmetic Surgery is commonplace and accessible to many patients. Such common procedures include Breast Augmentation/Implants, Breast Reduction, Breast Lift, Male Breast Reduction, Face Lift, Neck Lift, Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty) and Liposuction.
The surgical principles and practices are based on techniques developed over many years, taught by experienced surgeons and often derived from reconstructive surgery principles.
The Cosmetic Surgeon needs to have an artistic ability at the outset in order to understand the principles and appreciate the aesthetics of human anatomy. Achieving an aesthetic surgical result is not a component of any traditional surgical training programme; these skills must be developed and taught by other experienced surgeons, such as provided by the Australasian College of Cosmetic Surgery (ACCS) of which Dr. Bobby A. Kumar is a Fellow.
For most patients, the decision to have Cosmetic Surgery is a significant and important step. Often it is an attempt to enhance, improve or correct a patient’s self image. This decision is not taken lightly at Bare Aesthetics Cosmetic Surgery Clinics; patients are provided with the information required to make an informed decision.
Dr. Bobby A. Kumar performs the following Cosmetic Surgery procedures:
Breast Augmentation (Enlargement)
Breast Augmentation (Enlargement) using Breast Implants (typically silicone implants) is the most popular and common procedure performed today. This procedure can be unfortunately and incorrectly referred to as a “boob job”.
It is a very personal decision by women and Dr. Bobby A. Kumar recognises that for many women breast enhancement surgery is not purely for aesthetic reasons.
Many women have small, droopy or irregular breast sizes and shapes. Consequently they choose breast augmentation to achieve aesthetic, desirable, full, naturally appearing breasts, results not achieved by a “boob job”.
Alternatively, there are those who choose to have breast enlargement as throughout their adult life these women have had underdeveloped breasts.
Breast Augmentation is achieved by using either silicone or saline implants. The type of Breast Implant used is thoroughly discussed with all patients. Dr. Bobby A. Kumar details the advantages and disadvantages of the different fill, shape and sizes of breast implants.
Likewise the placement of the surgical incision when performing Breast Augmentation Surgery can be very personal for women. The most common site tends to be under the breast at the crease between the breast and chest wall. However, incisions can be made at the border of the nipple areolar complex and breast skin, as well as in the armpit crease. These sites tend to be much less common and have specific issues and limitations when performing Breast Augmentation. Read more>>
Breast Lift (Mastopexy)
Over time the breasts will droop and sag. For these women breast augmentation alone is not a solution as trying to affect a lift by way of a large breast implant will result in an augmented droopy breast rather than an aesthetic natural breast shape and volume.
A Breast Lift (mastopexy) with or without breast augmentation offers women an appropriate surgical option to return sagging, drooping breasts to a more natural and aesthetic breast shape and volume with an appropriately positioned nipple areolar complex.
A Breast Lift will involve incisions on the breasts which will take time to heal, eventually fading over time.
It is also recognised that breast lifting with a concomitant breast augmentation is difficult and has a range of particular complications which Dr. Bobby A. Kumar will discuss with the patient. Read more>>
Breast Reduction (Reduction Mammaplasty)
For some women who present with sagging, large breasts resulting in back and neck pains, skin infection and other physical symptoms, a breast reduction is required.
Breast reduction (reduction mammaplasty) reduces the breast volume and shape to a natural and for some women a perky shape. The nipple areolar complex is often reduced as this can be enlarged. As part of the process of reduction it is also relocated to the maximal point of projection of the breast.
There are many techniques described in the medical literature for reduction mammoplasty. Dr. Bobby A. Kumar is familiar with all of these techniques; however, he has found several techniques to produce far superior results. During your consultation for a Breast Reduction, Dr. Bobby A. Kumar will describe the technique best suited to achieve a natural aesthetic breast shape and volume for you.
The Breast Reduction incisions are similarly placed on the breast and these too will take time to heal fully and fade.
Breast Reduction Mammaplasty is perceived by both the patient and surgeon as having high satisfaction and relief of symptoms which outweigh the shortcomings of having an incision and scar on the breast.
For both a Breast Lift and Breast Reduction Mammaplasty patients can receive partial reimbursement from medicare and their private health fund; this should be discussed with Dr. Bobby A. Kumar at the time of consultation. Read more>>
Male Breast Reduction (Gynaecomastia)
Males may also develop large breasts commonly known as “Man boobs”. This can be very embarrassing for men and many will avoid social situations where they are required to expose their chests such as the beach. Alternatively some men who exercise regularly may not be able to shift the pocket of fat in their breasts. There are many causes for Gynaecomastia, such as weight gain, metabolic, genetic and drugs (prescribed & illicit use).
The underlying type of breast tissue will determine the technique used for Male breast reduction surgery. Some men may simply require liposuction/liposculpture to remove the pockets of fat and define their chest wall. Alternatively they may require liposuction as well as an incision around the Nipple to excise a disc of fibrofatty tissue. For massive weight loss patients the pockets of fatty tissue and redundant skin will require extensive excision similar to that for a female when performing a Breast Reduction surgery.
For Male Breast reduction patients can receive a partial reimbursement from medicare and their private health fund for the Liposuction component; you should discuss this with Dr. Bobby A. Kumar at the time of your consultation. Read more>>
Face and Neck Lift
Many patients seeking facial rejuvenation are familiar with short term procedures such as anti-wrinkle injections (for example, Botox ®, Juvederm ®, Aquamid ® or barbed threads). Wrinkles, sagging facial skin, soft tissue and jowls may be improved for between 3 and 18 months with these procedures.
Dr. Bobby A. Kumar performs comprehensive face lift and neck lift surgery for those patients seeking longer term results; many of these patients will still have a softened and rejuvenated appearance at 10-12 years.
The particular techniques Dr. Bobby A. Kumar employs in his face lift surgery avoid obvious scars and hair loss, and produce a natural refreshed and rejuvenated appearance, rather than the “windswept” appearance common to poorly performed facial rejuvenation surgery.
Likewise the neck lift achieves a defined, aesthetic neck and jaw line and lifting of the jowls and “turkey” neck.
Facial rejuvenation is a particular specialty at which Dr. Bobby A. Kumar excels and keenly focuses on producing natural and refreshed results by both surgical and non-surgical face lifting techniques. Read more>>
Tummy Tucks and Liposuction
A Tummy tuck is otherwise known as an Abdominoplasty. Typically tummy tucks are performed when liposuction, weight loss or exercise alone will not address the sagging (ptotic) abdominal skin and spreading abdominal muscles.
There are varying degrees of Abdominoplasty from “mini” tummy tucks to radical tummy tucks. Dependant on the procedure performed, the umbilicus may be released and “floated” or resited to its correct position on the abdominal wall with tightening of the skin and muscle.
The scar produced by the incision for a tummy tuck can be short (like a caesarian scar) or long; the latter is common in patients who have had significant weight loss and require removal of large segments of redundant skin and tissue. Wherever possible, Dr. Bobby A. Kumar aims to site scars in areas that will be hidden by underwear.
There are patients, however, that will achieve excellent natural and aesthetic results from liposuction alone and are unlikely to need such procedures as a tummy tuck or other body lifting procedures (eg arm lift and reduction or thigh lift).
Liposuction/Liposculpture is used to remove pockets or areas of fat resistant to the actions of exercise or diet.
Following liposuction the skin retracts and redrapes producing a more defined body shape. Dr. Bobby A. Kumar also utilises liposuction during the tummy tuck procedure to help shape and define the torso, abdomen and back.
It is important to realise that a tummy tuck and liposuction are not weight loss procedures and patients are encouraged to have an appropriate exercise and diet regime to facilitate health, fitness and weight loss. Read more>>
